What kind of food and drink will help your immune system?
Food and supplements that contain antioxidants. Green tea, blueberries, dark chocolate, grape seed extract, beta carotene (carrots) and acai berries are just some of the sources of antioxidants.
Studies have shown that antioxidants help boost the immune systems as well as prevent damage to cells by free radicals.
A recent study showed that antioxidants are useful in preventing damage to the lungs caused the flu virus. Without being too technical, the antioxidants prevent influenza viruses’ M2 protein from damaging lung cell proteins.
If you are concerned by the swine flu (H1N1 virus) or any other flu virus adding antioxidants to your daily diet is a good idea.
Oregano oil is another powerful anti-virus, antioxidant that I keep in my medicine cabinet. I place a few drops of the oregano oil into gelatin capsules to take whenever I think I might have been exposed to a cold virus or flu virus
Vitamin C is a traditional antioxidant that should be increased when dealing with influenza. Tomatoes contain antioxidants and other fresh vegetables do as well.
